Tradional Japanese Bathub by Yukio Hashimoto

Yukio Hashimoto creates traditional and stand-alone bathtub that can be placed beautifully in your living room of in the garden just like a sofa, an interesting idea. Available in combination red and black, this bathtub made of ecological material called Lacquer, a material that has been used since 5500 years ago.

My proposal is a bathtub that can be placed everywhere, giving us new ways to enjoy bathing. Decoratively covered with lacquer, this bathtub can be seen as a sort of huge lacquer ware or even as a decorative object, and the aim of this project is to show the furo like a kind of symbol of Japanese identity and not just a place where to keep water.
