Andreas Varotsos has designed the Luna Chair for the Greek manufacturer Varangis.
This innovative chair, paying tribute to Arne Jacobsen’s inspired futuristic designs from the 1950s, explores the symbolic, expressive and ornamental properties of flowing, curvilinear line as an evocative force corresponding to melodious sound or lyrical poetry. Its key innovation lies in a backrest/seat module with a cinched ‘waist’ that swivels within a rimmed concave steady base rest-ing on four wooden legs. Made entirely of molded eco-friendly oak, it is available in its natural color or stained wenge.

The headboard of this demountable wooden frame bed, available in eco-friendly walnut veneer, uses one single sheet of bent curved floating wood. Instead of covering its surface with an inhibit-ing barrier film, the 12mm walnut veneer is open-pore painted, bringing out the wood’s natural grain and inherent beauty. Its freedom and lightness of form create a play of light and shadow like the cascading effect of pleated shades fluttering in the Greek summer wind. l 220 x w 200 (160) x h 100 cm
