Visible Structures Furniture Series / by nendo

visible structures / by nendo

For this collection, nendo wanted to explore new possibilities for expression by using carbon fiber in a supporting role to emphasize and accentuate the main material, rather than as the star in its own right. They arrived at this idea after thinking about carbon fiber’s use as a supporting building material, a technique developed after the Hanshin Earthquake of 1995. Wrapped around pillars or bridge girders, carbon fiber cladding can provide additional seismic resistance for civil engineering works that would be difficult to reinforce against earthquakes through traditional methods.

Bamboo-Steel Chair for Yii / by nendo

nendo designed this chair as part of the Institute’s Yii series, a new project with art direction by Gijs Bakker, co-founder of Droog Design.

Their task was to discover sources for new designs through research into Taiwan’s traditional bamboo handicrafts and furniture. They were fascinated by bamboo-working techniques, and decided to draw their inspiration from these, rather than to work with the material itself. they applied bamboo-working techniques to tubular steel pipes, which can be easily mass-produced with standard levels of quality. Custom Curve Window System with Customized Options

Custom Curve window system

Pacific Yurts introduced its unique Custom Curve window system. Custom Curve is the first glass window system with a structurally engineered framework that follows the curved wall of the yurt. It thereby avoids the “flat panel” appearance of other systems and creates the most aesthetically appealing window available in a yurt today. The Custom Curve design utilizes a Low-E thermal glass window for maximum energy efficiency, and integrates a fabric flange into the window system to assure a weather-tight seal.

Home Decorating on a Budget

Creative ideas for redecoration

Always remember that your home is the haven for you and your family. You want to create a warm and inviting atmosphere while at the same time reflecting your personality and staying within that budget.

  1. Make sure that you focus on areas that tend to accumulate clutter as well.
  2. Establish themes for each room, even if it as simple as a colour combination that you have always liked. This provides you with a starting point and you can build from there. Additionally, you want to work from the largest area of the room towards the smallest when applying that theme.
  3. Before you start shopping, dig through your closets or storage areas. You would be amazed at what you can find with a little bit of effort. Did you hide a set of colourful drapes and curtain rods in there and forgot about them?
  4. If you are going to paint or need some tools make sure you is search online for Wilkinson Discount Codes. These typically enable you to spend within your budget by offering discounts on a variety of home décor items.
  5. Don’t be afraid to shop the second-hand and thrift stores. You can find tons of decorating accessories and home furnishing items that are like new at very low cost.
